Mercedes de Castro and her family have a ranch, Hasparren, in the Rio Negro department of Uruguay. Every winter, hunters from all over the world come to the ranch to hunt wild birds. At night, Mercedes prepares typical recipes with the birds. Feasting on Wild Birds compiles these recipes plus other more traditional Uruguayan recipes.
For the graphic of the book we combined the color palettes of the ranch and feathers with photos of life on the ranch and the dishes. We used feathers from different birds to make compositions, as well as drawings that the author herself had made over the years. All of these elements contrast with the clean structure of the recipe book. -
