Design of Hay café. the first Uruguayan book on specialty coffee, written by Pablo Corrado and published by Grijalbo.
The design starts from a simple idea: no additives, the same way a good specialty coffee is drunk. No overdesign, no elements competing with the content. A clean sans serif organizes titles and highlights, while a classic, highly readable serif carries the weight of the text blocks.
Sabrina Srur's photography —the totem on the cover, the cafés, the interviews, the recipes— is respected as it arrives, without intervention, the same way a barista respects the bean. The rest, mostly what relates to the history of coffee, is resolved with archival material.
A warm palette closes the system, in tune with the object the book portrays.
